Kane Healthcare Consulting wins Medical City Contract
Kane is delighted to announce that Kane Healthcare Consulting has been appointed to
assess the feasibility of the development of the “Medical City” Project in the Middle East.
The feasibility study will be carried out in conjunction with Ernst & Young.
If approved, the Project, undertaken by Apex Medical Group, will see the establishment
of the first state-of-the-art regional transplant centre with all the support services of a
medical city in the Middle East.
The Shari’a compliant facility will provide specialised and comprehensive healthcare
services in the field of organ transplant and supportive medical services, in addition to
the amenities of modern inpatient and outpatient facilities. The Project will see the
establishment of the most prominent medical landmark in the Middle East and the GCC
countries.
Commenting on the announcement, Dr. Naeema Aziz, Practice Leader, Kane Healthcare
Consulting and Engagement Director of the study, said: “We are delighted to be appointed
to lead this feasibility study. This is clearly a very exciting project, and has the potential
to have a major impact on the range and quality of medical and surgical services provided
in the Middle East.”
Ashar Nazim, Engagement Director and Group Head of Islamic Financial Services Team
at Ernst & Young in Bahrain, added: “Aside from the fact that the Project will bring
pioneering medical and surgical facilities to the Middle East, the most exciting and challenging
aspect is the sponsor’s desire to make it fully Shari’a compliant and in accordance with the
dictates of Islam.”
Dr Abdulla A. Al Joaib of Apex Medical Group said: “We firmly believe that the Medical City
Project will bring significant benefits not only to the healthcare sector in the region, but also
to the economic and social development of the GCC countries. We are very pleased to be
working with Kane at this early stage in the development of the Project. They have
impressed us with their high levels of professionalism and thorough understanding of all
aspects of this market.”
Shaun Brook, Senior Executive Officer of Kane Bahrain, said: “I would like to take this
opportunity to congratulate our Healthcare Consulting team, and in particular Dr. Naeema
Aziz, for all of their hard work and dedication in securing this appointment. Kane has always
sought to attract the most experienced professionals in the sectors in which we operate,
and today’s announcement clearly shows the success of this strategy.”
